Question / Help Multi-Track USB Audio Interfaces & OBS Audio Tracks

I'm looking to invest in a USB Audio Interface/Mixer such as the Yamaha AG06 or a FocusRite Scarlett.

I'm aware that these types of interfaces will have multiple recording inputs. I've seen videos.

What I'm not sure is how Audio Devices with multiple inputs are handled in OBS, if its possible to assign one input (or two for Stereo) to a single audio track.

I've been searching for an example of someone doing this successfully with no luck so far.

Does anyone have any experience using OBS Studio with a Multi-Track USB Audio Interface?

Thanks in advance...

Just one thing to add: the AG06 isn't a multi-track interface. The UBS in/out is just plain old stereo/2 channel.

And... without the hackery of other software, OBS will just take the stereo line-in, or whatever your device presents it as into OBS. For example, my Scarlett 8i6 presents itself as a stereo line-in device (alongside as an ASIO device for supported software). Mic input 1 on the front is mapped to the left channel of the line-in device, and mic input 2 is mapped to the right channel.

Without doing some hackery with other software to map ASIO inputs to regular Windows sound devices that OBS can interact with, I don't think there's a way of doing what you want to do.

Really?

I guess at that price it was too good to be true to get 6 inputs. Amazon's reviews seemed to indicate it was a multi-track USB audio interface, but I'll take your word for it.

And thanks, that's what I wanted to know. My only other option was to get another iMic device or something similar as a second audio-input device and run the mic input through one and the game input through the other. I am somewhat concerned about audio drops from pushing through much through the USB bus, but we'll see how it works...

Thanks, saved me some dough. An iMic or Behringer U-Control is cheaper than a Yamaha AG06 XD

It is technically multi input (in analogue), but the USB input/output is only stereo, as this specs page says. It sucks, but it can be tougher than it should be to find out whether things are multi-track or not!

Also Windows hopefully supporting multi-track devices by default. I think any program that wants to use multi-track audio on a device has to support ASIO.

Hi.

I also have problem with Scarlett 6i6 and OBS. My setup is: Mic into input 2, then in ableton live I'm using some fx, like compressor, noise reduction, eq and gate. After that, signal with effects is going to output 3 and 4. I used 2 cables to route that signal from out3/4 to input 3/4 so I have dry mic on input2 and vocal after fx on input3/4. Is there any chance to set mic source in OBS to input3/4 from my Focusrite? In OBS sound settings, I can choose only "Line in (Scarlett 6i6)" but with these setting, OBS is recording dry vocal from input 2. I heard about some software, like VB-Cable, which is emulating separate audio device, but wanted to fix that without any external software.

Thanks in advance.

@MazingerZ, let me get this straight from your original post, you want to have multiple inputs going into the mixer and then downmix that to stereo for OBS?

@Stormmclaw, how is the output going from Ableton to the Scarlett? If I understand this correctly that is the signal you need. I just helped someone else with the same hardware and Ableton but he used VoiceMeeter for that setup but I know you want to see if it's possible without extra software. Setup diagram provided as an attachment.

Red = Automatic routing (can be read as Point of Origin = End of the arrow)
Blue = Internal routing
Green = Must be set up by user

@Yurlyn I've already solved the problem with ASIOLink

Low latency, allows me to get multiple audio tracks into OBS for local recording and therefore no longer having to do 'ACTION' every time I record to try and synch the audio tracks in post-production.

Holy crap. ASIOLink looks absolutely magnificent. It looks to do exactly what I can do natively with my Babyface. I'm going to check this out, and if it proves as promising as it appears, I'm going to want to throw together a bunch of guides for this to help people out.

Thanks!
