First off, OBS is a fantastic piece of software. Thanks to features like the Intel QuickSync that drastically reduces CPU load we've used it to broadcast hockey games on our "mobile" kits that use laptops (Windows systems). Video source plugins have helped us replicate many of the features we use on our desktops with Wirecast software. There is one key feature missing that would, in our opinion, make OBS near-perfect: multi-bitrate streaming and recording.
We often use these laptops in facilities where internet connectivity is less than ideal (like 500 kbps upload speed). However, for on-demand playback we would like to record at a rate of at least 1000 kbps. We tried the multiple OBS instance workaround multiple times but it's very cumbersome and we could never quite get it to work. Is the implementation of this type of feature in development and, if so, how far off is it?
