Question / Help Mp4 to Avi?

I want to start recording again but I with my video editor (Adobe Premiere) doesn't accept .mp4 audio files. I can use a mic recorder for my mic but I'd need something to capture sound. But, I'd like to know if there is a way to convert / output .avi's?

the ffmpeg remux process allows you to output to avi as well as mp4.

It's not recommended to save directly to mp4 due to how fragile the container format is.

Seconded. Record to FLV, and remux to whatever format you need from there. Don't record to MP4 directly, ever.
