Question / Help MP4 has no video?

I searched the forums and couldn't find quite what i was dealing with so if you think that their is a thread that fits this then feel free to link it.

I have been recording some game play with obs for a couple days now with OBS and everything has been going well, except for last night. Last night I recorded 2 hours of footage roughly and when I was done it only had audio. I thought maybe the update on obs I had done was what caused the problem but when I recorded a second video everything worked fine. I'm wondering what happened to that particular file and if there is any way to save it, being that it was a good chunk of footage i needed.

if not what are some things I can do prevent this in the future.

Was the desired content in the OBS preview window while you were recording?

Yes it was I checked multiple times throughout the recording to ensure it was.

Try playing the file back in a program like VLC instead - https://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html

yea I've tried vlc. the weird thing is movies i recorded before and after this one were perfectly fine. just this one so I'm wondering if i need to re encode it
