Question / Help mp3 audio not detected in mp4 file

Hi
Just started using OBS, great software.

My apologies if this has been covered previously in the forum, but a search didn't bring up anything specific to my query.

I created four profiles with identical stream ("save to file") parameters, but with different file type and audio type settings as follows

flv AAC
flv mp3
mp4 AAC
mp4 mp3

The first three combinations play perfectly in the media player I'm using (AVS4U), the audio format reported for AAC being MPEG-2/4 Audio.
However with the last combination (mp4 &mp3), I only get video, and the audio track is not detected. (The AVS4U video editor tells me there is NO audio track!)

With Windows Media Player, only the mp4 & AAC combination is playable, but only audio, no video. (I guess that's no surprise though!)

While I am able to convert one or more of the playable combinations to other formats if necessary. I'm curious to know why the mp3 audio won't play under the mp4 container. Any suggestions?

(I'm running Win7 64 bit on a fairly high end m/c, ASUS Rampage III extreme mobo, 12GB ram.)

THere's no reason to use MP3 audio, and honestly, the MP3 audio option should probably be removed. MP4 files are expected to have AAC audio streams, so just stay with AAC.

Thanks for the reply. OK, AAC it is then, sounds like attempting to deal with mp3 Media Player/Codec/OBS compatibility is a nightmare to be avoided!
