OBS supports Quicktime .mov video files with alpha channels (transparency). But do I need Quicktime installed on my PC for the .mov's transparency to work in OBS?

Nope. For example, OBS Studio uses FFmpeg libs to handle 'Media Source' playback.

But you can install CoreAudio AAC codec that comes with iTunes application - OBS studio not finding AAC encoder or OBS-Studio: Enable CoreAudio AAC encoder (Windows). This one you can find useful on Windows.

Thanks. Turns out I was using VLC Video Source instead of Media Source, which is why the .mov's transparency wasn't working.
