Mouse locks up

I've used OBS for three years to stream HS soccer games (about 15-20 games each year). All have been on the same laptop, same camera interfaces, the only thing that's changed hardware wise is the camera I'm using, and that changed at the beginning of this season.

Three games ago, before I started streaming, my mouse locked up (just using the trackpad on the laptop). I restarted the laptop and all was fine.
Two games ago, before I started streaming, my mouse locked up again. Restarting the laptop didn't help this time. I was able to get the stream started using just the keyboard.
Last night, everything was fine until about 3/4 of the way through the game and the mouse locked again. I looked at the CPU usage in OBS and it was only showing ~12%.

I tried to gab the log file this morning and got an error that it was too large. Thinking back to what has changed... three games ago, my "pre-game" and "halftime" slates, which used to be full screens, I took the background off and had a transparent graphic (a .png) over the camera shot.

I *THINK* the times the mouse has locked up, I was on that transparent graphic (but maybe not). Does anyone think that transparent graphic may have been my issue? I can go back to the actual full screen.

The laptop is an i5, 16 gigs of RAM, and I haven't had a problem until I tried the transparent graphic.

More info: The hotkeys I have set up still work (thank god!). All other graphics I use are .psd, are also done full screen, but cover much less of the screen (scorebug).
