Question / Help Monitor Not Displaying

I'm completely new to OBS, but I'm having an issue where I don't get any monitor image. All I get is the gray background color for OBS itself. I've included a couple of screenshots, both before and during preview. I must have missed a setting somewhere, but I can't seem to find what might be wrong. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.

Nothing is wrong. You're showing OBS on your monitor, monitor capture is showing your monitor, so guess what it shows? OBS!

Oh okay. I was seeing youtube demos where I was seeing a smaller image of the desktop within the OBS screen, so I guess I was confused about that. Thank you for the help.
