Question / Help Monitor Capture?

I might just be a noob asking this, but I can't seem to find monitor capture in the obs studio. Is there one? Also is there a way to choose sub-region in the windows capture?

Thank you.

To find the monitor capture you would go to the sources and add a display capture. From there select your display that you want to capture and scale it to the proper size.

I'm not sure what you mean by sub-region but if you mean the part of the window you want to capture, there should be a red box that shows up and just scale that around the spot you want to be seen. Everything outside the box will be cropped once you hit ok then you can move the box to wherever.

Hope this helps!

Yea, I meant I wanted to capture a specific part of a window. However, I can't seem to find that red box. When it's supposed to show? When I'm in the windows capture/properties?

Still not succeeding. I only can scale the whole window, not a specific part of it. In OBS classic there was possible to select a sub-region of a window, but I don't know how to do that in the OBS studio.

Anyway, I added a picture to simplify what I mean: I want to display the graph in my stream that I have surrounded in black.

Thanks for answers & patience.

Crop down to the specific part you want to use.

And for what you're doing window capture is probably better than display capture.

Ok, thanks both. Problem was I didn't know where the crop tool is, but found it now :). Thanks again!

Scrub here, so forgive my ignorance, I am looking to do something similar (add a Skype window overlay over a film playing) and would like to do it with window capture (as opposed to needing a secondary display) but is there a way to crop in window capture mode? I am not seeing it, and I don't necessary want to see the entirety of the Skype window overlaid on top the film.

Right-click, Transform, Edit Transform. Or hold Alt and left-click a Window Capture border.
