Question / Help Minimized OBS helps game not skip frames

For the longest time, I thought that it was the video settings that cause the cs go frames to skip. However, I minimized OBS and the CS GO frames ran smoothly. It is whenever I have OBS opened and not minimized, is when the frames skip for CS and PUBG. Does anyone know why and is there a fix for this? I would like to have OBS up while I stream to monitor bit rate and such.

Do you have two monitors with different refreshrates?

preview is (also) causing lags.
you can disable preview by right clicking on scene.

Yes my main is 144hz and secondary is 60hz

Windows GameDVR must be off (it also messes with dual monitor + diferent refreshrate setups), the Game on 144Hz must run in fullscreen mode and you should not open programs that uses any GPU acceleration (like videos in browsers) on the 60Hz Monitor. Than your main Monitor should keep running on 144Hz.

The web (reddit, microsoft/geforce forums etc.) is full of threads about this issue, so it's not directly OBS related.
