Question / Help Microphone volume changes when game sound plays.

I have a headset with microphone plugged in through a 3.5mm Jack.

When it is just capturing the microphone, the audio levels are fine. As soon as any game sound plays the microphone levels go way down so that they are just a mumble underneath the game sound. The volume of the microphone is clearly changing and i've tried making the microphone volume really loud and the other audio really quiet but the mic still goes quieter when game sound is played.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Do the levels change in OBS, or in windows? If it's in windows, I think it's an ancient bug with windows devices where audio levels can spontaneously change at a whim.

Sorry for the late reply, had my duplicate thread bookmarked :o

The levels don't actually change, but when i listen to the playback you can distinctly hear the microphone volume decrease as game sounds are played.

Yea, I locked your duplicate. I unfortunately don't quite know. I've really never heard of this happening before to be honest.

Could it be something to do with the fact that both my microphone and my headphone are using the same 3.5mm jack so they are on the same channel or something like that?
