Microphone suddenly stopped working.

Hi, I've been using OBS to record daily content for about 5 years now and I've run into my first major problem. I went to record today and OBS wasn't recording my microphone. I've tested the microphone and it works in windows and with discord but OBS is getting nothing. It sees the microphone as an available device but there's no audio from it and no activity on the meter. I've tried removing the microphone from windows and reinstalling it. I've updated OBS. It worked perfectly yesterday. I haven't had a Windows update. I have no idea what changed. I can switch to another microphone and that microphone works fine, but this is my only high-quality microphone. I'm stumped.

Found the problem.. Well, solved the problem, but I don't really know what caused it. I moved the microphone off the USB hub I've been using with it for years and plugged it directly into the PC. Everything else on the USB hub is working fine, even if it's plugged into the port my microphone was on. And the microphone worked fine there with other applications, just not OBS. I have no idea what changed or why only OBS was affected, but at least I can get a recording done before going to bed tonight.

Most likely an OS or driver update, or one of the USB devices on that hub is sending (slightly?) more data and overwhelmed the link or USB Hub controller it was attached to.
See forum threads on USB Root Hub overload, which is what it sounds like happened to you

Were the microphone detected as a new device in windows, as you moved it between the usb ports (hub vs. direct)? If so, please remove the existing binding to that mic in OBS (removing from scenes or disabling it in the global devices, whatever fits for your configuration) and then re-insert it fresh from the dropdown list into OBS.

If it fails further, please provide a current obs-log here.
