Question / Help Microphone sound very low

Hello, I have been having this issue since the start of using a stream and can't find any positive answer as yet.

The issue is my microphone output sound, I have this set to maximum on OBS but people can still barely hear me! When using any other voice com like skype, vent, teamspeak and so on, the mic sound is perfect and I can be heard fine, but when I stream it is so low that many people tell me they can't hear me too well - And I am basically shouting into my mic!.

Any help much appreciated.

I have this same issue. The only workaround I know of is to go into your OBS Audio settings and increase the "Mic/aux boost" value above the default of 1. In my case, 8 or 9 was "normal" levels of volume. This is unfortunately a pain to test, I recommend you turn off live streaming and do local recordings only and play them back to figure out which value you need.

Out of curiousity, is your microphone a 3.5mm plug like mine? I used to use a USB mic and it was fine at a boost of 1, but when I got a new 3.5mm jack mic this issue came up.

Hmm how do you do local recordings? Like recording a video without streaming?

My microphone is a Microsoft LX3000 USB.

Go into your "Broadcast Settings" and check "save to file" then choose a path/file name, then up top change the Mode box to "file output only."

Thanks for that, really helpful, stops me live streaming when making guides for people now! Lol, one more thing though, now that I have the recorded video saved how do I upload it to my channel? :)

Oh and the boost worked, I am now hearable, many thanks.

Twitch doesn't allow uploading of pre-recorded video, you'd have to go to some place like YouTube for that. If you want to record and stream at the same time, (so Twitch gets a copy too) just switch the mode back to Live Stream and keep the "save to file" box checked.
