Microphone setup advice

Hi

I'm still learning on OBS but would like a little advice on using Zoom and if of course it is possible.

Within my scenes I have various content and one scene is set as a zoom live chat between myself and a guest.

When I move to a video scene I don't want to have to mute my mic between me and the guest so I can instruct them on what is going to happen next. My problem is if we don't mute our mics we hear ourselves chatting over the other non live chat scenes.

This is on a test live stream but obviously I want to try and fix this for a real live stream I plan to do.

Thanks in advance

If you have scenes where your mic should be active in OBS and other scenes where your mic should not be active, you can do this: Remove your mic from Settings->Audio->Global Audio sources. Then add a "Audio Input Capture" source to the first scene where you want to have a mic and configure it for the mic device. Add the same source to other scenes where you want to have a mic, and make sure this time you add the source with the "add existing" option. Leave the scenes where you don't want to have a mic without audio input capture source. Now your mic is silent as soon as you switch to a scenes without mic source. You also see this in the mixer: the mic source will vanish for these scenes.

Do the same with the Zoom audio where you capture the audio from your guest, usually your headphones source, however the source has to be a "Audio Output Capture" source, because it's not a mic. This might be tricky, depending on how exactly you capture the audio from your guest. In case you can use an application audio capture source for Zoom, it's most easy: add this only to the scenes where you want to broadcast your guest as well. Headset should also be straightforward.
