Question / Help Microphone picking up characters voices

Hi everyone!

Apologise if this isn't the correct area to post this, but I'm at my wits end with it. I've been having a lot of trouble recently in OBS, where my microphone is picking up the characters voices and causing a dual audio on their voices. I use Voicemeeter Banana to make sure everything is set up correctly, and I haven't changed any settings at all. This first started in my Resident Evil 2 lets play, and I managed to fix it. However it's started up again, and I haven't changed any settings.

I have my monitor muted, so it's not being picked up that way. The voices are directly going to my microphone. If I mute my microphone, you can't hear it. I have an example I recorded for you, where at 15 seconds I mute my mic until about 22 seconds. Then the dual audio continues. I'm not sure how to fix this or why the audio would be coming through on my microphone. Hopefully it's ok to link this here, to show you what I mean

Any help with this, would be hugely appreciated. As it's stopping me from being able to record or stream, until it's fixed.

Yeah it's happening with or without it, I tried changing everything back to default. Without the use of VoiceMeeter and it's still doing it. I'm not sure why the voices are coming through on my mic at all. When there is no way for them to be picked up through it.

I’m not sure, it’s never done it before, until recently and I never had voicemeeter set as my default system input.

It started a few weeks ago, and then it stopped. Now it’s doing it again, out of nowhere. And I hadn’t changed any of my settings.

I’ve tested it by changing it both in voicemeeter and just changing my mic. It’s just the characters voices that come through my mic, any music doesn’t record twice. Just their voices. It’s weird.

So... wait, game audio is coming through your mic, but only part of it?

Is your audio set to stereo or surround? If you're playing something but only voices come through, that sounds like center channel.

Sorry for the delay, yeah it's only the characters voices and sound effects that do. I tried it in the back of my PC and it's fine there, so i've been using that. There just must be a problem with the front jack for the microphone.
