Question / Help Microphone not getting recorded while in game

I am new to using OBS, but have found it to be a really good program. I have managed to get all the video recording settings correct and can record the game sounds as well as TeamSpeak sounds. I am using Razer surround audio speakers program for my sounds because it was suggested in one video I watched. I am trying to record APB Reloaded using Monitor Capture because game capture does not work and I could not get window capture to work either. I can get OBS to record the game as well as the game sounds and any talking in Teamspeak. What I can't get while playing APB is my mic sounds. I play the game in Borderless Windowed to be able to record it with monitor capture. I have recorded Besiege with my mic being recorded fine.

In my recordings I open OBS, load the game and then tab out to OBS and click start recording. I use Push to talk and the mic gets recorded when I am viewing OBS. Once I switch back to APB(whether through tabbing again or clicking on the open apb window) the sound of my mic stops getting recorded. What can I do to get my mic to record?

I got the microphone to get recorded once, but cannot repeat the same things to do it again. For push to talk to work do I need to be in or out of the OBS window? Should it be grayed-out while I play my game?

Some games grab control over your keyboard, and so end up effectively causing push-to-talk not to work. Try using the Mic Noise Gate plugin instead; it essentially auto-mutes your mic when you aren't talking (the volume drops below a se threshold) and doesn't use a PTT key so APB can't grab it.

That said, really should be using Window Capture for that with Aero ON, possibly with the anti-cheat hooking workaround as well, and/or compatibility mode.

Ok thanks! I am now able to record my voice. About the window capture I open OBS then start the game in borderless windowed and then switch to OBS. It is set to capture the game's window and I start the recording and switch back to the game. OBS does not record the game though. In the video it shows a frozen screen with OBS open in front of my game, but I can still hear the game sounds. That is why I am using monitor capture.
