Microphone Input Not Detected

Hi all,

First time OBS user, just trying to set up a very simple stream. I've been able to set up a scene and capture game footage, but I'm trying to set up a microphone input and it's not quite working. I added an "Audio Input Capture" as a source, but no microphone audio is detected/can be heard on stream. I just set up the microphone tonight and it worked fine for discord and in games, but not for OBS. There was two options (default and a different one) and neither one seemed to work. Any help would be appricaited.

Windows has permissions now, like your phone does. Does OBS have permission to use the mic?

As a major troubleshooting step, what does OBS's meter do? Does it "dance along with the mic"? Or does it stay down? Either way, that eliminates about half of the things to look at.

And, what actually appears in the device selection? And what does Windows call your mic? Do they match?
