Question / Help Microphone gain set to 58.0dB?????

I have my mic plugged into my audio interface (I'm a musician so I use it for other things besides commentary & the microphone is an XLR dynamic mic- a Shure Sm58). I'm concerned as the gain on the interface is cranked as high as it goes (56dB). In OBS the microphone is all the way up, too, at 0.0dB. I am using Analog audio instead of HDMI (because im using an elgato hd 60 s and chatlink cable for game chat) and the analog audio is so much louder than the microphone audio even though the mic is cranked up and the video capture device audio is set to -3.2dB in OBS.I feel like there's something I'm doing wrong- shouldn't the gain on my microphone not need to be cranked up so high? If I were to lower the gain on it, I would have to lower the video capture device volume more, and the end result would be my recordings would all be super quiet- too quiet that when my PC volume is turned all the way up it is still a little bit not loud enough.. Essentially, the only way to hear my microphone in OBS is to have the gain on my interface turned all the way up. Is this okay? Should I just roll with it?

Dynamic mics like the SM58 need a lot of gain, keep in mind this is also a vocal mic that is designed for literally being next to your mouth.

Ah okay that's great. I have some other mics I could use but I wanted to pick up less room noise so I opted not to use a condenser.

You can also use a low-noise in-line mic preamplifier like the Cloudlifter CL-1 or Fethead, if your interface provides phantom power.
