Question / Help Microphone fuzzy only when speaking

Hi all,

Newbie with OBS, but had been chugging along just fine with other recording software like Reaper with my mic setup. The problem is simple: When I record my mic through OBS, it sounds fuzzy. When I'm not speaking, it's quiet. I'm using a Rode NT1 mic through a Focusrite 2i4 audio interface. Gain is set to avoid clipping, and phantom power is on. I checked and the sample rate matches for my interface and in OBS. I've tried scouring these forums for similar posts, no luck with the solutions I found yet (including one to install the AAC encoder coming with iTunes). Any thoughts?

As a reference point, I first tried recording with my laptop's built-in mic, and then I didn't have this fuzz problem oddly.

Log file attached.

Thanks for any help!

Figured it out, just responding to my own question in case it helps others - I updated the Focusrite driver, and this had the effect of increasing the sample rate on my audio interface from 44100 to 48000 (I suppose the latter is the default). Then the fuzz disappeared, even though OBS was still set at 44100. As a test, I reduced the interface's sample rate back down to 44100 and the fuzz returned. So for some reason OBS seems to like 48000, regardless of how it is set in its preferences.
