Bug Report Microphone cutting out

This issue seems similar to the other mic thread, but I wanted to fire up a new one because they were in the middle of troubleshooting. Feel free to delete/merge as needed.

Since the beginning of July I've been having problems with my microphone intermittently cutting out on me. When the problem happens I see no errors, no notices, the only indication is when my viewers yell at me because I'm no longer speaking. My hunch is that this is something to do with OBS because I do not have this problem when I am not streaming, however while streaming I will lose my mic about 2-3 times an hour.

When the problem happens, my mic completely stops working. I lose it in both OBS and in Windows altogether. The only solution is to open the Recording Devices configuration in Windows and disable/re-enable the mic. This will cause it to start working 100% of the time.

I uploaded a copy of my log file here:

I noticed the line "Audio device 'Microphone (Blue Snowball)' has been lost, attempting to reinitialize" in this log which I assume is me cycling the device. Checked previous log files and found them going back to 07-JUL. My previous stream before that was 30-JUN and did not have this problem.

Let me know what other information I can provide to you for this issue (or what else I can test).

Thanks!

This is probably a separate issue fro the other thread -- the snowball is a USB mic correct? I feel like it could just be issues with USB more than with the mic or anything else in this particular case. I would try switching it to another port, or if it's in a USB 2.0 port try a USB 3.0 port, or vise versa.

And yea, those messages in the log pop up when it detects that the mic has been terminated or disconnected, so if you're doing that via windows then it's simply detecting it. Alternatively, you can go in to OBS' audio settings and hit the "reinitialize" button next to the mic audio device to force it to reinitialize while streaming, though honestly I just think it's a USB thing in this case. If it weren't, the log file would say more stuff than this, but still I suppose I'm just theorizing.

You're correct, USB microphone.

I'll try switching out the ports and doing a bit more troubleshooting on my end.

Thanks!
