Microphone audio is wack

I record videos and my microphone and desktop audio work just fine. But then fast forward a few days and my microphone says it works it shows how loud it is and everything but when actually recording it doesn't record any audio, despite the fact that it worked just fine a few days ago and I haven't changed a single setting.

"Not changing anything" doesn't tell us anything. What settings do you actually have?

---

My standard answer to "it used to work and now suddenly it doesn't" is to NOT USE DEFAULT!!!!!!!!! Always choose a specific device, *in OBS*. The reason is that Default defers the choice to the operating system, which can and will change it on you. So then you're connected to a different device, which is a fairly major change without YOU having changed anything.

Never use Default. Always specify the actual device *in OBS*.

---

Now, you say that OBS's meter still moves. That hints at a different problem. So again, "no change" means nothing. What do you actually have?

These are my settings, I've set it to be my specific mic

You're recording 3 tracks, with Track 1 having the Mic and Desktop audio, and the other two Tracks have just one thing each. Alert Box and Chat don't go anywhere. Is that what you meant to do?

Since you're recording multiple tracks, there's the question of what your player actually does with that. Most will play Track 1 by default, and some allow you to choose which track to listen to. Movies use that for alternate languages, and for descriptive audio for the visually impaired.

I suppose it's possible that your player decided to not play audio at all, if the file contains multiple tracks. Or maybe you just have it set for a track that doesn't exist?

At any rate, the settings tell me that the file should indeed have it.
