TL;DR: - XCAPTURE-1 USB 3.0 device sending video to TV, but my PC will not process any video only showing a black screen and scratchy audio. Is it my choice of AMD products handicapping me? Do any of you have a suggestion / path to success?
My build:
http://pcpartpicker.com/user/shiberving/saved/TXFdnQ
The Unresolved Issue:
I just received my Micomsoft XCAPTURE-1 on Tuesday. I am only getting a black screen and some crackling audio through multiple pieces of software including the packaged "VideoKeeper2," VirtualDub and of course OBS. Video passes through the box perfectly to the TV via the HDMI output. I can tell something is happening and the computer is detecting the signal, but the actual video will not appear on the PC. One other interesting issue to note: when I stop the stream preview within OBS, windows drops the USB connection playing the sound indicating a USB device has been disconnected. The device then reconnects automatically. I have watched the XCAPTURE fall off the device manager list and then add itself back on while this happens.
I have updated every driver possible. I have blasted my SDD and re-installed Windows 7x64 for a fresh start. No luck.
Based on my extensive 2 days of research, I think I have narrowed my issues down to one of two problems:
1. A bad USB 3.0 cable (not sure how likely this is. It powers the device fine and connects to the PC and holds the connection throughout the attempted stream preview).
2. Incompatibility between the XCAPTURE-1 and my USB 3.0 Host Controller (ASMedia XHCI Controller) (based on what limited research is available, more likely). I have read a lot of information about this particular capture device working best with Renesas controllers.
What I cannot find any evidence of / my questions:
1. Has anyone ever been able to successfully use this device with an AMD motherboard and AMD associated products?
2. Are Renesas USB 3.0 PCI cards compatible with my motherboard?
Closing:
The support from Micomsoft is a very slow process (they are located in Japan) and I am waiting to hear something, anything from them.
I was so excited when I received this product and have now been defeated for two straight days, thus turning to you all for some help.
Thanks in advance for your time,
Jerry
