Hello is there a MIC volume limiter addon available for OBS? Sometimes when I get too exited I yell way way too loud and some of my viewers dislike it and I would like to limit it for certain amount of DBs so they dont get angry for me being too loud!
I've been googling solution for this for like 2 hours but I havent found anything.

I'd like to bump this thread. I'm looking for an "upper sound limiter / normalizer" myself. The plugin that Bamse linked to isn't what we're looking for. We need something that normalizes audio on the fly so you could be whispering or shouting and the volume would be the same as your normal voice.

Again, that's a compressor. They aren't perfect, and the more aggressive they are the more problems you will have, especially as far as raising whispers. The upper range is easier though for less-expensive units.

Do software compressors exist or is it purely a hardware thing? If software compressors exist, what should I use?

I plug an analog microphone to the Realtek audio mic port on my computer's motherboard and I'm on Windows 7.

They do, but they generally don't work well from what I've seen, and I haven't seen a free one that works at all. You'd want to look into VSThost and finding a VST compressor plugin. It will add audio delay to your mic, and as noted may not work well (or at all).

Normally though, they're handled as a separate piece of hardware. Some mixers have a simple one built in (like many Behringer models), but don't work as well as the standalone units.
