Question / Help Mic Too Low?

Whenever I stream people say they can barely hear me, that my voice is too low, and that I had to turn my game volume down to 10% to be heard, and only when my mic boost was at 9 did they say they could hear me. Yet this confuses me severely because after doing local recordings and even watching the streams live on other computers, 9 sounds too loud and the default 1 sounds just right, not too soft, not too loud, in comparison to the game of course. The same level though, that people said they were having problems hearing me, at 1. Any ideas as to what's going on or could people just be messing with me?

Right-click on the speaker icon in your system tray, select Recording devices, and open up the properties window for your mic. Adjust the volume level there first, along with any sort of mic boost option if you have one, before using the mic boost in OBS.

That's already been done, but even if I didn't, that doesn't change the fact that I could hear myself fine, but they "say" they couldn't. If I CAN hear myself fine through recordings and live streams, I should be fine in general, right? I'm not doing anything fancy in terms of sound setup and all that.

If you can play back a locally recorded file or VOD of your stream and everything sounds fine then I'm not sure what there would be to fix. Do the volume indicators in OBS appear to be moving a reasonable amount? Do you have your own system volume set really high or something? Could you link to an example recording for us to listen to?

I'd have to make one. And my speakers are set to 100% in windows, but when I listen to the game volume in a recording, I sound on par with it, that's what I compare my voice to, the game volume. Now as for giving you an example, did you want like, a recorded stream link from Twitch?

It sounds like you're really far away from your mic, or that it's doing a poor job of picking up your voice with the ambient noise. It's definitely hard to hear you over the game.

I think I know what you mean, but that's me being soft spoken sadly and I don't know what I can do about that, I've never been a loud speaker.

Put the mic closer to your mouth if possible. Or get a better mic that will let you do that, or one that you can clip on your headset. Or get a good quality headset+mic.

Well I can try to move the mic closer, it is a webcam mic actually so I'm sure down the line I'll need to get a good headset/mic combo, but I don't have the money for that right now sadly, for a good one, not a cheap quick fix.
