Question / Help Mic Sync Fix Hack help...

Not quite sure exactly what this option does? I assume it fixes audio delay between the video and audio, right? But I'm not sure how it does it, or the particular way it works. Haven't really been able to find much information on it. Say I have an external capture card capturing video from my Xbox. Will outputting the audio from my Xbox to my mixer and into my computer as a mic source allow me to sync the audio with this option? (since external capture cards have video delays once it reaches my computer).

Thanks and sorry if this is explained somewhere else.

It's specifically for some USB microphones that do dumb things with timestamps and such.

It's a last resort option due to issues with poor audio-subsystem design. It's used when microphones output their data in bursts, which cause accidental delays, it enables a special fix specifically for that scenario. Again though, this option shouldn't be necessary with a better designed audio subsystem, so it's really my own fault for the incorrect design.

We're actually currently in the middle of redesigning the audio-subsystem so that all these options should hopefully no longer be necessary in the rewrite

So you guys would recommend I switch from outputting my Xenyx X1222 via USB to 3.5mm jack? I do occasionally have random delay problems so this could be it.

I don't quite know to be honest - you can try either. You can also try just using mic time offset to adjust the delay manually in audio settings.

Right, but if using a USB output from my mixer can generate random de-syncs, a mic delay offset wouldn't really help too much accounting for the random changes in delay. I'll experiment with using 3.5mm output and I'll report back. Thanks!
