Question / Help Mic Selected in OBS, but no sound registering

I purchased a USB lapel mic. I plug it into my computer, it registers in Midi Set-up. I select it as my audio input source in OBS. But, when I speak, no sound registers. It is not muted. The sound bar doesn't move at all. I would appreciate your help.

OBS isn't apple to access this audio device-- possibly a permissions issue. You may wish to try giving it permissions in the Security and Privacy system prefs panel, or launch the app from the command line. In Mojave, Apple added a security setting for access to audio/video devices.

It's also possible that the driver is just not up to date; the support page for the device indicates it was compatible with MacOS X 10.4-10.6. Plenty of older standard devices absolutely should just work, though, so I'd lean towards it being a permission problem.

Thank you for your reply. I am not sure how to resolve a permissions issue. I looked in the Security and Privacy system in System Preferences as you recommended. But I don't see the USB Mic anywhere. OBS is already given Accessibility permission. The USB Mic does show-up in System Preferences/Sound (but does not register any sound, see attached), and Midi Set-up (see attached).

Does it not register sound in System Prefs? Or just in OBS? Does it work as an input in any other apps, like QuickTime Player if you try and use it to record, or Audacity or any other audio recording app?

It does not register sound in System Prefs, Voice Memo, or OBS. I tried both USB plugs on my computer and both mics. I would like to use this as a more mobile option for recording. I should note that I have another stationary set-up, where I was successful in bringing a condenser mic into OBS with an interface. However, when I tried the lapel mics with the interface, again no sound. Grr.

You need to request support from the manufacturer. OBS can't access an audio device that no other part of the system can see.

SOLVED: I was previously trying to use an adapter (headphone jack to USB). When I plugged the lapel mic directly into my computer's headphone jack it was recognized as an external mic! I love a simple answer. Thank you for your assistance.
