Question / Help Mic Problem

I'm using a OBS/Dxtory set-up and as far as I know I have it set-up correctly, but there is a buzzing noise in my stream. Now I use to use xplit and dxtory that's why I think I set it up correctly, but i'm not sure if I did or not. I've been trying things for a couple of hours. For example, I've switched the input jacks I was using, played with the mic boosting, raised and lowered my volume, used noise suppression with my realtek manager, looked for updates on my drivers. This sound doesn't come out when i talk in skype, or Dolby Axon. I'm pretty sure I've found the problem but I don't know how to fix it. I have two pictures to show you what I think it is. Oh btw in the mic section there is a constant stream of sound coming from it as you will see in one of the pictures.

Have the EXACT same problem. Stactic noise comming from my headset mic.
Integrated mic from laptop works just fine. The headset one doesn't. Only on OBS. Tried all these things, nothing worked.

Any help?

I unfortunately don't have an answer to static, though I will be trying to make a workaround for potential interference in the future. I believe it has something to do with the fact that it's reading the headphone signal and the mic signal at the same time, though it's just a theory at this point.

I'm having the same issue on Corsair Vengeance 1500 USB headset. I've searched the forums for a bit and I have found this thread. I'm not using dxtory or anything else for streaming, only OBS.

I can also hear and see in OBS mic section the constant noise as it can be seen on OP's first screenshot. I recorded a short video of it - http://youtu.be/2Lhf81NMFPM

I have tried it in both the latest stable build and then the latest test build. I did not notice any difference. But it only happens in OBS.

I've also found this thread with a workaround of sorts but that doesn't seem to work for me. Just linking it here in case someone would want to give it a try.

When I turn the mic volume down a bit, talk a little louder and there is music/game sound in the background it's not that bad but still noticeable during quiet periods (and annoying).

edit: recorded in a room with little to none background noise

I had this issue in xsplit, audacity, vent, mumble, Skype, and obs.
Prior to getting my sound card, I had to reduce the quality to cd quality. It removed the static but at the cost of the audio quality.

Not at home so this is from memory.

Go to recording devices. Go to your device's properties and in one of the tabs you'll find a drop down with options for quality.

Hope this helps

Thanks zangets00 but it did not help in my case.

I went to the microphone properties in Recording devices and tried all of the following:

Listen tab - Playback through this device - changed from Default Playback Device (default setting) to headset sound card and back
Enhancements tab - Disable all enhancements checked and unchecked (default)
Advanced tab - Default format - tried both CD (default) and DVD quality
Advanced tab - Exclusive mode - both checkboxes checked (default) and unchecked

What you encountered was most likely a similar but different issue since I do not have this problem in Xsplit, Skype, Mumble or TS.

Below is a screenshot with Mumble, TS and OBS voice activation settings. In TS and Mumble you can see a little noise which is caused by my PC fans since I took the screenshot remotely and my headset is currently resting on top of my PC case. In OBS you can see the mentioned static noise.

any news regarding this issue?

I have noticed that it has been removed from the Known bugs and Issues thread but it still exists in the latest versions (0.50b / 0.50.06b)

here's a comparison of XSplit and OBS microphone noise with default configuration

The removed item in the known bugs was something else entirely that was related to the resampling of the audio. I don't think it's teh resampler though, I'm not sure what it is for you in your case yet
