Mic not recording when in game

I am trying to record Grounded gameplay and am having issues with my mic. It will sometimes record when I'm on the title screen for the game, or when I transition from the title screen into an actual game, but when I start recording when already in the game OBS only gets the game sounds, no mic. The mic seems to be working fine on my audio mixer so I'm not sure what's going on.

I have already gone into my mic settings in Sounds and made sure it's set as both my Default Device and my Default Communications Device. I have also gone into advanced mic properties and unchecked "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device".

It's very inconsistent in whether it'll record my mic or not. Sometimes it will, but most times it seems like it won't. I've been trying to narrow it down to a specific reason but I'm having no luck. I even turned on monitoring (monitor and output) and I can hear myself but it didn't record anything I said. Starting to get frustrated :(
