Question / Help Mic not recording in video

Hey all,

My specs:
Hasbro i5 4690k @3.5ghz
8gb ram
Nvidia 980ti
Win 7 64 bit home edition
Corsair Vengeance 2100 headset with mic
Using OBS 21.0.1
I don't know what log file to include with this post but will happily remedy that issue if someone can direct me to it.

The problem: The mic isn't recording. OBS detects it and provides audio levels for it. I have the track the mic is being recorded to selected but upon reviewing recorded video the sound track from the mic is absent.

To be clear this is a problem that I'm having when attempting to record the mic as a separate track from the main recording. I have the mic set to track 2, which is enabled under the output/ recording tab. If I enable the mic on audio track 1 (which I had wanted to reserve for desktop audio) I CAN hear it. But then it's not a separate track.
