Question / Help mic is not showing any output in OBS studio

Currently using the Apollo twin duo as the audio interface. I can use adobe audition and make it work that way but the mic won't output any sound when using OBS. I can use VAC and make the mic work that way through the apollo twin duo but that causes an input delay which I don't want to deal with. I feel like it is possible for the apollo twin duo to work in OBS..but there may be some sort of compatability issue here? I have posted the log below..

And what do you mean by only once? Are you asking if other programs are using it? Then the answer would be no (other than the console that corresponds with the audio interface).

Can you simply add your sound device as 'Audio Input Capture' (or 'Audio Output Capture') source in the OBS Studio (and don't use it in 'Video Capture Device' properties nor in the obs settings)?

Just tried doing that and had the camera set to its own mic and the current output as VAC..meaning that my audio interface is not being used at the moment. Still there is a no output signal coming out of the Audio input capture.

'Audio Input Capture' this is IN (from device). If you can hear sound - this is OUT (from PC), use then 'Audio Output Capture'.

You can mute your mic from the cam by simply clicking on the speaker icon (obs mixer's list) or removing it from the track's at all (some info about this available in the OBS Studio Help Guide: https://obsproject.com/forum/resour...ware-studio-multiplatform-help-guide-pdf.365/ look for Advanced Audio Properties, for example).

a) Or you used the device (mic) in OBS Studio once and it becomes unavailable for external application (Audition or what ever you use)?
b) Or you want to hear mic on your PC?
c) Or you want to use external mic (not the cam mic) and add some effects to it?

Well I've tried both input and output and it still doesn't output any sound coming out of the mic. And just to be clear, I am trying to use an xlr condenser mic going through the audio interface to the PC. I didn't have the webcam as the mic and still no output was coming out. I was asking another person about this issue in the community chat and he suspects that it has something to do with it being in ASIO, which is not yet compatible with OBS but apparently I can change it to WDM but not sure how to do that yet.
Also, I don't need audition if I can get it to output something from the interface. I'm literally only using audition because I can't find a way to output sound other than using VAC.
Idk..i feel like at this point I should just wait until studio is compatible with ASIO. But I should figure out how to convert it to WDM...not sure :/

well the device does show for both input and output capture. Does that mean it is already in WDM?

I did see this before..but not sure if it actually helps since I'm not sure if it is actually in WDM. There doesn't seem to be an option where it's clear cut (like a drop down that would just say the mode if it's in WDM or ASIO).

I found a work around. If you have a DAW like Ableton Live you can open that application, make sure that the input is set to the Apollo. Turn on Monitoring on a track with whichever input you want. Set the output of Ableton live to be an unused audio device on the computer (in my case it was the digital output that came on my mother board). You can then use OBS to add a Desktop capture and select the same output that you assigned in ableton. You will pickup audio perfectly clear. I would recommend setting your ouput buffer in your DAW very low since you will not be recording in that program and it shouldn't have any effect.

This solution will add a small amount of latency depending on how low you can set your input and output buffers in your DAW. I hope this helps

Shoot I will definitely try this when I get the chance. I'll keep you updated though. Thanks so much for this. Fingers crossed!!

Hey Jon, I have attached a photo of the outputs that I currently have available. Not sure if I see any outputs similar to the one that you are seeing. Also, I have Pro Tools so not sure if I have everything set up correctly the way that you mentioned...

Also, how do I get a Desktop capture option? Do you mean Audio Output Capture?
