Mic echo

My apologies if this has been answered before or for the fact that it sounds so obvious.
Anyway, I’ve been streaming for a few months now, music generally. I am told that my mic echos a bit too much and while I think I know why I can’t find a solution. Streaming to twitch with OBS, the mic is open and it hears what’s playing from the laptop which is already streaming therefore kinda playing twice. Does that sound stupid?
New user so apologies again if this is common.

The mic will pick up what is being played back through speakers in your room. As every other sound, too. To avoid this, you need to play back anything you don't want to get to your mic through a headset/headphones.

Totally ACK to koalas post. If you stream musically with a certain degree to exaltation, buy yourself a good pair of headphones (over-the-ear-models) like studio grade headphones. You won't regret that investment for sure.

So take studio-grade over-the-ear models. For good wearing-comfort In europe i would/could recommend DT-990 (acoustically nearly open model) for calm silent environments like living-room conditions

or AKGs K271 from Austria closed headphones
if you're on the road with them either. Look for similar models if not avail in your country.
