Hi, I have been having an issue where my microphone dies only while streaming with OBS. Log file here https://obsproject.com/logs/vJb3ocMp9ZpOR9m4

My hardware setup is:

CPU: Intel 6700K @ 4.4 GHz
MOBO: ASUS Z170-A
RAM: 16GB DDR4 2900MHz by ADATA
PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G2 (80+ GOLD)
SSD: Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB
HDD: WD Enterprise-class 2.0TB
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1070 Founders Edition
Headset: Kingston HyperX Cloud II

My mic totally dies when this happens. Not just on stream, but Discord or anything else too.

Thanks for your time and take care.

Here is another log and test I did this morning. https://obsproject.com/logs/sAptDb2XqKCAMGLh I know for a fact the mic died between the time of 6:50 - 6:51, and it came back anywhere between 7:00 - 7:07. I looked at the log (I don't know anything about it), and it doesnt even show anything between the times of starting the stream and ending it at 7:20.

Here is another log. https://obsproject.com/logs/UAp4SG-T4tByNYOa I was able to restart the mic by using the

disable and re enable feature, but would still die again later. Some other information is that I have Discord open and I am in voice chat while this is happening. I am going to test with out Discord to see what happens. I also changed this setting now too:

I unchecked the Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device. Will continue testing and updating while I wait for a response.

I hope this will be my final update. Especially since no one was able to help me (its an odd issue I know). Here is what has seemed to fix it, and I want this to be here as a potential fix for anyone else experiencing the same issue.

1) The headset microphone being used (and headset obviously) was the https://www.hyperxgaming.com/us/headsets/cloud-gaming-headset
It was the HyperX Cloud II, and as seen on the page, it was the only one with a USB connection, and it has a 7.1 USB soundcard. I tried turning off the 7.1, and that didn't work. I tried removing the sound card altogether and plug the controller in via an Xbox One controller, and that didn't work still.

2) Here is what has potentially fixed it: I switched to this headset: https://www.hyperxgaming.com/us/headsets/cloud-alpha-pro-gaming-headset I went for broke and said that maybe USB was the issue all along. Turns out that it was most likely the case. Going to the green and pink jack cables has seemed to fix the issue. I streamed for over 3 hours last night, and the audio of the mic never died once.

Now I could have just been lucky, but I feel that would have to be some extreme luck if that is the case. All the other crashes on USB happened anywhere from as low as 5 minutes to 47 at the most.

I hope this may help anyone with a similar issue, and happens to stumble upon this thread. I know buying a new headset/mic with a different connection isn't ideal, but it may be what solves your issue.

You could probably buy a cable that just goes to the jacks, but then you would lose the mute and volume features of the dongle :(

Thanks for your time and take care.
