Question / Help (mic) audio delayed/not in sync with webcam

Hi guys,

Recently the audio of my microphone is not in sync with my webcam. My webcam 'shows' first and then you hear the audio a couple seconds (1s +) later.

This happens a couple minutes or hours into my stream. It's synced at the start somehow. I have to manually delay my webcam to get it synced again, but the problem is that the delay changes overtime.

Help is welcome! I have a link to my stream (Twitch) as an example, but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post it.

Grtz,
Jay

You're still using OBS Classic, which is basically a dead project. Is there a specific reason you haven't updated yet? If not, can you update to OBS Studio and see if the issues persist there? Syncing audio/video is much easier in OBS Studio.

For Studio: If you need to delay your audio sources, go to Edit -> Advanced Audio Properties and adjust the Sync Offset (ms) field. If you need to delay your video sources, add a Video Delay (Async) filter. Note that Display, Window, and Game Capture cannot be delayed.

However, all that said, drifting sync is very difficult to isolate. It's usually the fault of bad drivers or failing USB. But, please try in OBS Studio and see if you have the same drifting issues first.

My reason I haven't updated it yet is because I couldn't be asked to re-make all the scenes over again. Is there any way to make this process easier?

Can you upload your scenes.xconfig somewhere it can be examined? If there's a bug in the converter, it will be good to fix!

Are you adding the camera to both scenes using "Add Existing"? This is the same as adding is as a global source to multiple scenes in Studio, since all sources are global by default.

If that doesn't work, go to Help -> Log Files -> Upload Current Log after attempting.

Yes exactly. I realised I created a new video device.

By the way: do you have any suggestions what hot keys to assign to switch scenes, mute mic, mute desktop etc.? I just can't think of a key that is not doing something that impacts what I'm doing.

As I'm not sure your workflow, hard to say. I generally use the number pad for all my hotkeys, as I rarely use that for much while streaming.

I came up with the idea to use CTRL + random numbers (1, 2, 3, 4 etc.)
It seems to work and not interfere with anything.

Everything seems to be set up. Let's hope the audio and cam is synced!
