Bug Report Mic and mic volume: bug report

Problem/bug:
  • Low audio on stream/recording: When I recorded some gameplay a couple of days ago I noticed that my mic volume on the recording where really low, Even tough the audio meter are in the red area.

  • When I go to "Edit -> Advanced Audio Properties" and use the monitor sound option on mic/aux it's so loud that it could make my ears bleed, but on stream or the recording you can barely hear the mic.

  • And the mic stops working when you use the monitor sound option, the only fix for that is to restart the computer

Possible cause:

I don't exactly know why this happens but I think it happens when i apply filters on the mic/aux in the mixer sutch as Noise Gate, Noise Suppressor and Compensator. I think that the filter is stacking or something so it dampens the mic audio. Just turning or hiding the filters won't help.

Temporary Fix: (low audio on recording or stream)
The only temporary fix that I have come come up with is to re-install OBS or delete everything inside the Appdata folder. (it's really annoying to lose all the scenes).

Note:
There is Nothing wrong with my mic or my mixer board, it works fine in game and voice chats such as discord, teamspeak and or skype.

  1. if you have a volume control on your game side, move it up
  2. take a close look at the little boxes to the left of the volume/audio slider: these indicate the input levels. make sure they are yellow-red so you know the input volume is OK. if they are dark green, that indicates the game volume coming into OBS is low
  3. if you use filters, first try to raise input volume before activating those filters
  4. after activating the filters, check the input audio volume indication (the little boxes) again
