Using media source in OBS studio to play an mp4 file, it will sometimes stop outputting the sound to stream, even though in OBS you can see the audio levels still moving like normal. It seems to be random when it stops working. Has anyone else had a similar problem or found a fix for it?

Do you mean just playing the video through VLC and adding it as a source in OBS? That would work but it kind of defeats having the ability to quickly switch scenes and have the video auto play directly.

It's an alternative to the media source that relies on an existing installation of VLC on your system to function. You have to use the VLC installer for the architecture you're using OBS with. That means 32-bit VLC (http://get.videolan.org/vlc/2.2.4/win32/vlc-2.2.4-win32.exe) for 32-bit OBS, and 64-bit VLC (http://get.videolan.org/vlc/2.2.4/win64/vlc-2.2.4-win64.exe) for 64-bit OBS.

Long dead thread, but I'm having the same issue with mp3 files. They will play, it just takes 2 minutes for them to load up.
