Question / Help Media Source Audio Problems (IS THIS JUST ME?)

So I've been setting up my stream deck to work with my streams. The buttons are set up properly to que music
commands or sound effects via OBS Studio "Scenes" where I have Media Sources set up to play the different files.

The problem is, the FIRST, and only the first time, will the audio play - even without using the stream deck, this issue persists. I will close OBS Studio, reopen it, and the audio will play fine again, only on the first time.

In the audio mixer I have the setting on "Monitor Only (Mute Output)" so that it plays to my default audio device, and because that will also output to desktop audio it's a good way for the stream to hear the audio, along with myself at the same time.

I'll 'hide' the layer and then make it visible again (to play the music) and I can see on the mixer that it IS playing, but it's not outputting to me so I can hear it, and it won't work again until I either restart OBS Studio or go back to the audio mixer, switch it to "Monitor Off" and then Back to "Monitor Only (Mute Output)"

Any ideas as to what I could do to fix this issue so that the music plays correctly TO ME every time?

Mine doesn't feed itself to the audio monitoring device at all.

Audio gets recorded for the media source but the monitoring isn't getting picked up. I've set this to Monitor and Output and while the volume meter is bouncing nothing flows to my headset (the monitoring device). This used to all work before. This makes it impossible to cue up intro and outro segments. Fix this please.

I am having the same problem. This only started happening recently. Yesterday after I finished streaming I went to test it and it seemed to work fine again with monitoring the audio but, when I came back to stream again it stopped letting me hear the source audio, even though the viewers can hear it and I can see the audio indicator bars moving. I even tested it with a recording and it picks up the sound. I go through the same daily process but, have no idea why this has become a recent issue.

has this issue been addressed yet?? as I am having the same problems and I just posted a new thread explaining this. Probably should have read this one first :-).
But yeah it has happened to me and only in the past couple of months, my viewers can hear all audio (desktop, media sources and vlc video sources) however I cant through my headset. I can however still see the bars moving so I know there is sound, just not for my listening apparently.

hey you need to go to where the music is bouncing and hit the gear for settings on the media source. from there go to advanced audio properties and then go select monitor and output in the drop down menu.

I am trying to play a media clip with VLC. I want the clip to be shown on a big projector and the audio being played through a big amplifier, while I stream the clip to the OBS output at the same time.
I can play the clip on the projector and send the audio out to the amplifier, but then I have no idea to stream both audio and video through OBS.
Alternatively I can add a VLC media source in OBS and stream that, but then I don't know how to get the audio/video out to amplifier and projector....
Suggestions are most welcome...

OBS - add clip to media source, click right button on screen, select Full Screen Projector, in audio mixer select Advanced Audio Properties, select Audio Monitoring 'Monitor and Output', of course remember about correct audio output in Settings / Audio / Advanced / Monitoring Device

My issues is sometimes when starting obs my bideo capture device audio, which is set to monitor only is sending a second signal straight to my destop audio, so itll double it and only giving my volume on the video capture audio. to solve this i go into audio device settings disable my main audio device then enable it. NOW no audio is playing to my desktop audio. i have to go through by hand and do the monitor off to monitor only toggle for every audio resource even though they are already set to monitor only. this makes them work again.
a global audio refresh might do the trick if that option was available.
