Maybe silly Facebook/OBS Issue....preview video.

I use many different PC's Laptops with OBS and Facebook Producer. Im most, when you press "start sreaming: on obs, the facebook preview video shows and plays automatically. With mine at home it has a play icon that has to be pressed before preview shows moving video. Anyone have ideas why?

?? I'm not sure what you are referring to
In OBS, when I start streaming, all I get is the green indicator icon in lower right of OBS app windows. I'm not using Studio Mode
In Facebook /Live/Producer, I get the small preview window
I always use Scheduled Live videos, that way non Facebook folks get a URL and can watch as well
FB has changed the way videos start, and from week to week, behavior has been different/odd (and not documented by FB that I've seen). The old way worked reliably and consistently for me... the new way... not so much (and that is being generous)

I have no idea what you mean by a 'play icon'??
So be a bit clearer/detailed in your description
- are you using Scheduled videos, or just going live?
- are you paying attention to new FB interface on using camera vs stream key, etc
- are you filling in the extra FB required fields for the stream [as visible on web interface with red text/box]?

yes. using stream key as i do every other day elsewhere,

Okay, it s like the photo attatched. The preview window has play icon. Where as other much lesser grade pcs play it automatically.

that has nothing to do with OBS, I don't think
I'm suspecting you haven't done all the necessary settings in /Live/Producer (or something set wrong), as I'd expect to see the Go Live button on lower left to be blue - this is 100% Facebook... not OBS
Assuming that FB preview window shows what you are sending from OBS, then OBS would appear to be setup correctly (right stream key, and stream settings).. sorry, I only use Scheduled,

Just now I tested, and on FB /live/producer, selecting Go Live Now (upper left) and Use Stream Key
- I'm prompted for video title (lower left) below the Post to Page and By pull downs
There is another pull down for type of video (oddly it doesn't allow to change away from Gaming?? which I've never done/do.. no idea what that is about). Once I put in title, Go Live button went blue... good to go

lol. sorry i used a web image in superimposed on a web search photo.. the live button certainy goes red as it does go live, its just that im so used to the preview and full screen preview playing automatically then hitting go live. no waiting for me to press that play icon.

so when i go live it does...but the previews dont work properly or automatically.

Am I guessing correctly that your FB live stream works fine. it is just that in /Live/Producer, you aren't seeing the preview window?
if so.... nothing to do with OBS... so we'll see if I or someone else can help, but you should be asking Facebook (yea, I know.. but there are forums focused on their platform that are likely to get better response than on an OBS forum]

1. FB web page errors... happens... happens to me sometimes.. if preview, not working, I usually move on and ignore it... or you can change stream health, or scroll up on stream preview to get larger window view..
2. I've noticed that certain FB features related to videos (at one time, last year) only appeared when using Chrome, and not MS Edge (Chromium) version... so I made sure to use Chrome when connecting to FB, and haven't gone back to see if FB fixed their code
I bring this up, as you don't mention which browser you are using

Yes using chrome. My issue is preview should atoplay before i go live. Even when i expand preview it doesn't autoplay. When i go live, i still have to press the preview play icon again. I dunno, as i say not overly important, just take away from the smooth operationnim used to.

Yes, FB has changed /live/producer and the whole interface for live streaming. Auto start of scheduled live videos didn't work for me for a few weeks, and now does work, though it takes 20 seconds whereas it used to take 10 seconds or less... the cost of using a free service where they change things without warning/notice, and sometimes break things in the process. In your case, I suspecting less of something broken and more a case of the /live/producer UI changing, and you needing to become familiar with the new nuances... just guessing, again, I always use Scheduled

Actually, just recently I noticed an odd Facebook HTML code issue on /live/producer related to the small preview window
For example, on the Stream Health tab/page, if I resized the browser window to just fit the stats, I no longer get the preview window... BUT, if I make the page taller, and leave a bunch of empty space below the stats display (like 2inches), the preview window will re-appear ?!?!?
I do NOT like this new FB web page behavior... but at least I can reliably get the preview window to display again.
