Hello guys,
I have a simple question that i was wondering. I have a 2 pc setup. 1 for gaming and the other one for recording my gameplays with obs.
The games that i play varying from fps to single player story games.
I have connected my gaming rig to the recording rig thru a hdmi cable from my gpu gaming rig into the IN port of the ELGATO4K60Pro in my recording rig.

I have 2 monitors
1 monitor that supports 4k is connected to my gaming rig and the other monitor is a 1440p is connected to my recording rig.

In obs on my recording rig in the video settings i set the both display to 3840 x 2160

Display settings of windows 10 on my gaming rig is set to extend these display to the elgato4k60pro.

The settings of the recording is as follows:
The recording tab i set it to CQP (nvenc) with CQ level set to 14 (i have 3tb ssd installed)

keyframes interval set to 0
preset set to max quality
profile to high
Psycho tuning is set off gpu to 0
max b frames is set to 2

I found the recording to be unsharp, i want to maximize all the resources that i have to get the best recording possible.

Is there something that i need to change for the most best quality that i can get?

Thanks

See my thread here... If your recording computer has a recent Nvidia GPU I would set it to HEVC NVENC and use rc=constqp qp=## with keyframe interval 30. qp value is up to you but I've found that 23 looks indistinguishable, 25 saves some space and still looks almost perfect, and 30 is very efficient and still looks good

First off all i wanna thank you for your time and effort man, i appreciate it a lot!
I read the whole post like 7 times and still dont understand what it says.
Im dyslexic so reading understanding is difficult for me, and my english is not that great. i apologize.

i use rtx 2080 ti and i9 9900k for my recording pc.

what settings do you recommend so i can put it on the settings tab on obs.

again, i wanna thank you for your time and patience

thanks

Are you watching the recording in full screen in VLC or another decent video player on your 4k monitor? Anything else will look "unsharp" since viewing it at non-native resolution will naturally involve downscaling. Your settings look fine so this is likely a playback issue.

what i did is as follows, i put the recording tab to simple
after that i set the record quality to 'loseless quality, tremendously large files'
i recorded for like 2 minute video and put the file that i recorded on a portable ssd from my recording pc to my gaming pc.
on my gaming pc where 4k monitor is connected, i played the same recorded file on full screen and still its not that sharp like when
im on my gaming pc.
and btw the settings on my gaming pc in windows settings is set to duplicate these displays

i uploaded a picture for comparison.

the top is the recorded one, the bottom is a webbrowser on my gaming pc

You need to check the properties of the video capture device in OBS on the recording PC. Make sure the input resolution is 4k.

as you can see on the photo that i upload above, you can see that the elgato 4k60 pro uses a gen 2 x 2 pcie slot.

i have 2 elgato 4k60 pro m.2 installed on my recording pc.

1 is for my ps5
and the other is used to connect to my gaming pc.

on the website of elgato they sey that you need to install the elgato on a minimum pcie 4x slot.
did i installed the card on a 2x pcie slot?

this is confusingScreenshot (13).png

maybe uninstall obs and then reinstall ? and then upload the log files?

I'll post a screenshot of my Output settings for NVENC HEVC when I get home.

For your input issue, are you sure the other computer is outputting 4k? Are you using a splitter or duplicated display? I have a Blackmagic PCIE capture card and was unable to get my other PC to send it 4K, I just get a corrupted image instead
