I went live with OBS for the first time and I noticed the sound of my computer got significantly lower. After I went offline the sound still stayed low, even at full volume. I've gone through a couple of troubleshooting things about messing with the speaker properties and clicking default on it but nothing has helped so far and I haven't found anyone else with this problem.I'm running on windows 8.

Hmm, first thing that comes to my mind would be the ducking feature of windows:

Its normally activated by default, set it to "Do nothing". You might have to fix your current volume levels in Windows once that is done. Go to your control panel -> sound and then check the properties of your playback and recording devices, most of them will have a level tab. (Be careful and only turn up sliders for your speakers and microphone for example)
