Question / Help Max bit rate question

OK so with the newest update we can now preview the bitrate being used as an estimate.
I am wondering if I have a CBR set of 2500 bitrate with the 128 for audio
and I am seeing this preview going up towards 3000 will this still be ok? will this cause buffering? I am not sure if this is where the buffer setting comes into play or not? I have more then enough upload speed (40mb) but I am not sure if this is something that will effect it for the viewers when it jumps like that?
its set on CBR BTW

thanks again so much, I would love to get my stream flawless

As long as you're not dropping frames or getting a red indicator 2500 cbr bitrate should not be an issue even when you see little spikes.

Right. As long as your connection can handle it you should be just fine. Do a speed test and see how it comes out. Knock it down about 1k to adjust for bandwidth room and flexuation.

Yeah, I stream about 1Mbps under my cap. I have a 4Mbps cap. I am using VBR though, which varies quite a bit more, especially in high action games. I've actually thought about switching to CBR. My bitrate is set to 3100, but I still see it sometimes spike up to 4100 for some reason.

Anyone know why you'd want to use VBR over CBR? I haven't found a reason yet, just that applications are usually set to VBR from the getgo.

I dont think that is a good rule to go by with the "use 1mb less then your upload" you have to worry about your viewers and I think 37000 would be a little much to use when I am using CBR

I was just saying that you need padding under your cap in order to stream without lag. I was using my setup as an example, not a rule.

ture, but I mean your saying as a setting for using VBR correct? as if I use CBR and increase the padding then with CBR it will just constantly use the amount I put in, if I am not mistaken

what would be best? I am currently running CBR of 2500 and no buffer at all. I still get a few errors on YT but not as bad only buffered twice. I keep getting a failed to start error tho cant figure it out yet.

CBR without VBV is subject to large bitrate spikes depending on the scene content since it uses an average scaling factor from the entire stream rather than over the buffer durartion.

so what would you suggest?
if I have my CBR at 2500 for a 720p stream (call of duty black ops 2) on Xbox 360 - 30fps
and my upload is 38000 what should I put my vbv at?
