So, I have been having this persistent issue for a long time now and have tried everything under the sun to fix the issue, with no avail. I would really appreciate someone giving some guidance as to what may be causing the issue and how to potentially fix it.

So long story short, when streaming with a HD PVR 1 using Video Capture Device, the audio will constantly end up becoming desynced from the video, and will only be rectified restarting OBS Multiplatform. I have checked the logs and it says that OBS goes through a process of "adding X milliseconds of audio buffering, total audio buffering is now Y milliseconds" ultimately resulting in "Max audio buffering reached!"

I have no idea what is causing it and why it is so sporadic, sometimes its fine for 9 hours without it happening then other times it happens after 30 mins. Regardless, I have looked through the the forums for people with the same issue to see that they generally haven't got an answer for this exact same issue from posts dated to last year, so figured I would post again.

I've got the same issue, although I'm using an Avermedia Live Gamer Extreme and Logitech C930e webcam. On top of desyncing, in makes the audio in my stream extremely choppy / stuttery the moment this buffer is full.

If anyone could take a look at this, this would be extremely appreciated! I have 120 PC's with this setup, trying to migrate from XSplit as it has no support at all for automating the starting / stopping streaming part. OBS Studio was exactly what we need, if only we could get this one bug sorted out :)

Slightly old thread but same issue so posting here.

It gets so bad that the audio stops working completely, after a day or 2.

I had an Elgato HD60, audio would desync over a few hours and eventually no audio. I blamed the device.
Spent £150 on a PCI-E Blackmagic Intensity Pro and the same thing still happens. Very annoyed, waste of money.

I look at the logs and get "adding X milliseconds to audio buffer" often and I guess to the point where the audio stops working.

I've tried audio offset 0, and 150 (usually when just starting up, 150 is about correct.) Either way, goes out of sync gradually. And I keep having to lower this from 150, down to 0, then a few hours / day later the audio stops working. Also tried both 44 and 48khz.

Also happens on Windows and Linux...
This is really getting to me (and my many viewers who complain, which makes it worse).

Please help!

OR

Please give the option to disable OBS adding audio buffer!

Still nothing on this? Big issue! OBS audio sync is very problematic. Xsplit works! But I dont like Xsplit, it is windows only, and I get better picture quality in OBS without going to any effort to do so!

I have the exact same problem. And it regularly causes shutdowns. If anyone has any suggestions I would certainly appreciate it. It happens almost every day. Relevant log entries below:

Yeah same problem here. There was one quick hiccup in the middle of my stream, it chopped up 100 frames or so, and then the sync went bananas from there. Is there a way we can refresh OBS mid stream to remedy the audio buffer adding? Or is the only option cutting stream and restarting?

+ audio buffer status in status bar and it would be awesome!

got the same issue, which is why i came here.

Going to try setting my webcam to no buffer, to see if that is what is causing it (even though i'm not using my webcam for sound)
