Massively reduced performance after updating to OBS 28.1

I've been using OBS 28.0.3 with simple max quality and it has been working mostly fine. After updating to 28.1.1, however, I am seeing massive frame drops (shoots up to 77% from ~1%) for migrated preset P6. However, frame drops are there even if I am just recording a black screen, and frame drops are massive for any P5-7.

Maybe something will help you

1. Try changing the preset to P4, it is similar to the quality preset
2. Disable Game DVR
3. Set Performance Mode to High in NVIDIA Control Panel
4. Give OBS Administrator Rights
5. Downgrade NVIDIA drivers to version 522.25. There are problems with the latest version
Presets P6 and P7 are very demanding.

I have updated to 28.1.2 and NVIDIA driver 526.86. Now it is dropping like crazy even at P4. Looking at logs, it seems like preset is locked to p6 no matter what I set it to, unless I switch from simple mode to advanced mode.

Okay I think the issue is CQP. I switched to CBR/VBR and I'm seeing comparable performance as 28.0.x now.

I ran into a similar problem just the other day. The load on the encoder suddenly increased by 2-2.5 times. I completely deleted the contents of the folder and fixed it.
