Question / Help Massive frame dropping.

So I tried my first stream since I got my new i5-8600k and I was attempting to use Mixer's FTL encoding in OBS. However I would not drop frames when my desktop/outside of game was showing, but in-game I would get 50-55% frame drops. I could not for the life of me figure out why.

Things I did to try to fix it:
  • Changed Bitrate to a minimum of 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000 didn't help. The Auto Optimizer set me at like 5124 which I thought was nuts.
  • Used TCPOptimizer
  • Set Bind To IP to Default/my IPv4 address
  • Checked/unchecked "Enable New Networking Code"
  • Changed to NVENC encoding / x264, both had the same results
  • Changed servers to Dallas from San Jose (Improved but not by much, put off the frame drops by maybe 2 minutes or so and then frames dropped like a rock)
  • Unchecked "Enforce streaming service bitrate limits" as I was told to uncheck that while speaking with a few people about the issue

I believe that was it. Here's my last log:

Specs of PC:
i5-8600k CPU
8GB RAM (Was not hitting even close to max RAM during.)
Windows 10
Nvidia GTX960

I would extremely like to stream with FTL but I think Mixer has maybe been having problems with FTL as of late, I'm not sure, just based on one other streamer I watch but he has issues with his internet, so, whatever. I also tried Xsplit and apparently got no dropped frames but the stream was very freezy like it was dropping frames, from a viewer I had in my channel, so I'm not positive what's going on there. (Xsplit Gamecaster, not Broadcaster).

On my old i5-2500 CPU I had no issues with frames dropping or anything and used FTL fine. Also here's a link to one of the screenshots I took of when my stream was active and I was "dropping frames".

I did have a successful stream using Action! on RTMP with ten second or so delay, but that's RTMP for you I guess. Still fun.
Thanks for any assistance.

Yep, read that as well, didn't help. Majority of those "fixes" I posted were from google so naturally that came up as well.

But if you insist:
  • Change Servers: Did in OP
  • Bitrate: Did in OP
  • Wireless: Wired with Ethernet cord
  • Another Streaming service: Did not do, idk what that would achieve though.(Edit: Streamed to Twitch, Twitch is fine, again, RTMP works but FTL on Mixer does not so there's some issue there between me and FTL)
  • Firewall/Router/Antivirius/Network Software: Unless anyone knows if Comcast actively kills streams (which afaik they do not), Router/network is fine. All firewalls are off while Streaming (I turn Windows Firewall off, as well as Malwarebytes Free & Avast Free is off as well.)
  • Speed tests: Hence why I didn't throw one into the OP
  • Network Adapter Driver: Current
  • Bad Router or Bad Networking Hardware: Router is fine, 3 other people in the house use it every day and none have experienced any other issues with the router so I highly doubt I would just have an issue with it.

Here is the logfile before that one: https://gist.github.com/8f78a8c49194345c711314aba68dd5c4

Then the first paragraph on the dropped frames thread applies.

NOTE: This thread contains EVERY piece of dropped frames / disconnect / network related advice we can give. If you really truly honestly super duper actually 100% tried everything in this thread (including replacing hardware), and you STILL have issues then the problem is somewhere along the route between you and whichever server you are trying to stream to. In this case, there will not be anything you can do to resolve the issue as an end user.

Turns out that didn't fix it. Only tested for a short time earlier this morning but running a stream now and it did not resolve the issue. RTMP still works fine.

Also, the FTL branch was merged into the official branch of OBS as far as I am aware, considering I just downloaded it from the front of the OBS website. It comes with the stock download from the website.

Also bump.

Alright so apparently a bunch of other streamers I found out tonight are having issues with the FTL portion of Mixer in general so I'm just not gonna use it.
