Question / Help Massive FPS drop on launch, before recording/streaming

Monitor 1 is showing my game and monitor 2 has OBS up and displaying the preview. I launch the game on monitor 1 and it runs fine. Then I launch OBS, and as soon as the preview shows up, the game halts to a measly 4-6 FPS. Also, when I have another window active over the game (like this browser tab I'm posting this message in), the OBS preview looks like it's "stuttering" instead of freezing or just playing on like the game would be in the background.

I have an Intel i7-4790k and an Nvidia GTX 1070, so I'd bet my life it's not a performance thing. Plus this has worked in the past.

I see this in the log file during the digustingly-bad FPS drop, and I'm, assuming this is indicative of the issue. Please translate!

Many thanks,

Dang I had no idea i was a full version number behind! I should have known to update, thanks for the reminder.

After update, I tried running with Windows 10 Game Mode on and off, and both work perfectly now. Is there any specific advantage to OBS to have that mode off?

Either way, issue resolved! Turns out it was just that I was out of date............ *facepalm*

You were actually TWO FULL version numbers behind.

As for gaming mode on vs off, if you have it on, obs will not have access to all the system resources it needs to function.
