my internet is 25/15, i have a GTX 570, 8 gigs of ram, Intel® Core™ i7-920 Processor
(8M Cache, 2.66 GHz, 4.80 GT/s Intel® QPI). I am streaming SC2, stream starts to completely skip (audio doesn't at all)

not sure how to fix, any help would be great! would really love to optimize my stream!

If you're streaming on twitch, try changing twitch server. If that doesn't help, wait for someone who knows OBS better to reply. : P

no hasn't crashed, i believe the serve change fixed the issue.

can anyone help optimize my stream with my current hardware and internet connection :D :D

please :]

not sure what that crash in that top log was about -- if you get a crash make sure to tell me what was happening when it happened if possible, or what you were doing.

other than that, yea, fred covered it pretty much. to prevent frames from being dropped, you definitely want to try selecting one of the servers closer to you, and making sure your bitrate is set amounts that you can handle. you should have more than enough upload, so I would guess that it would have just been the server.

as for optimizing the stream, you have a really good computer it seems, so you should be able to run your general settings (in terms of video resolution and FPS) at whatever you like for the most part.

Jim, thank you kindly for your reply. If you don't mind, what do you think optimal FPS and bit rate/buffer should be at with my current processor and internet connection.

Also, can anyone tell me what the difference between the two are (max bitrate and buffer size)?

thank you!

Also, is there a way to lock my stream on the Starcraft 2 window only with 1 screen? I want to be able to alt + tab my game without the stream seeing my desktop and what not. Thank you!

p.s. is dxtory a better screen capture program than the default window capture?

thank you warcode.... i hate to sound like a computer illiterate, but where does my CPU fall under this list? -_-

i5 2500/2500K or below I would think. These are more guidelines than exact settings though, so you probably need to tweak it a bit for the best possible quality.

hey, sorry if I'm not always around, I've been pretty busy lately -- buffer size should probably be the same as your bitrate usually, especially if you have a high bitrate. if you don't really know what to set it to, the best bet is to usually just keep it at the same as your bitrate. setting it higher can improve motion quality, but it seems to have a caveat that it can send out more data at a given point (though your average bitrate still technically stays the same) -- at least that I've seen.
