Question / Help Make 1080p 60 FPS videos easier to edit

I have a GS60 ghost with a 970M, but only a 4710HQ CPU, so I record at 20,000 kbps / 1080p 60FPS with NVENC.

Because of my relatively weak processor, I usually have to create a video proxy, then edit through that, which takes quite a bit of time. From what I understand, the reason I'm not able to fluidly play back my recordings in editing software (I have tried Premiere, Vegas, and After Effects) is because my CPU can't keep up with decoding the video. I have plenty of disk space I'm willing to use, so my question is: is there a way for me to record in a less-compressed file format, so that I can play it back more fluidly?

From my understanding, being able to record to an uncompressed file format like .avi would solve my problem, right?

Thanks for the help.

AVI is not uncompressed, it's just an obsolete container format. Currently OBS does not support encoding to anything other than H264. Uncompressed 1080p 60 is likely way too much for your laptop to handle anyway.

I assumed it would take less resources to record without compressing than it does to record and compress it, I guess I'm looking at it wrong. Thanks for the help.
