macOS Tahoe - Performance Issues

Hello,

After upgrading my laptop to M4 MacBook Air it's impossible for me to use OBS. Even opening the app makes the laptop almost unusable due to the slowness and performance issues. When trying to record, the problem escalates 10 times. I don't have any error messages or anything to share cause there is no errors. I can share my OBS settings if there's a need, for now here are my specs:

I'm using macOS Tahoe 26.0
- Regular M4 processor for MacBook Air
- 24 GB Ram
- 512 GB disk space

Can please someone tell me what's happening? On my old Windows 11 laptop there is no issues whatsoever...

I have the same issue! M2 Pro Macbook Pro. Launching OBS also seems to break transparency on my menu bar (hover menu is instead blacked out), in case that may help identifying the root problem.

Having similar issues on my Mac Mini M4. It happens when I use audio or screen capture (which uses the native system capture since the captured window has its window controls changed to a blue button). As soon as I remove all audio/screen capture sources, it works well, and I can play media or use a capture card without issues.
No errors, no crashes, and the CPU usage info in the status bar never goes above 3%. I even stopped SteamDeck and disabled its plugin, and used the macOS accessibility settings to turn down transparency (thinking that the new "Liquid Glass" might be messing up).
Using the Stats dock, I see "Frames missed due to rendering lag" go up fast.

@kdy So I just have to use legacy capture methods? Or just don't use OBS whatsoever :) I guess I'll just fiddle with it for a while, and check if that's the case. Thank you!
