This is a known issue with no known solution.

The workaround is display capture instead of window capture.

The flicker is a consequence of the inherent bad performance of window capture mode in MacOS.

Anything you could play in QuickTime Player could most likely be added as a Media source, and this would generally perform better.

i had screen flickering with quick time window capturing too, the solution for me was to keep the window in foreground and completely visible.
This right here, saved my vegetarian bacon, thank you so much! The flickering must be the software trying to understand/read the fact that the window it's recording is behind another window. As soon as I did this, the flickering stopped!

Super annoying, but yes keeping the window in the foreground fixes the issues, although that's not exactly ideal... *tear*

I just tested under 25.0.8 (2015 15' MBP Catalina 10.15.4) and the flicker problem seems to be gone. In the past I had it whenever a portion of a window I was capturing obscured it flickered horribly. Seems to work pretty well now.

I am using 25.0.8 (2015 15' MBP Catalina 10.15.4) and I see flicker. Not sure if the flicker is the same as the OP, but when I make the captured window focus and not focus, the OBS output flickers to black. This happens no matter what window is being captured. Even if it's a static web page. video: https://www.screencast.com/t/1dYJZ7bgk

I just did a test capturing a Safari window of this screen and I don't get any flickering at all as it goes in and out of focus (you can see the title bar change color to reflect focus change.) This is 25.0.8/Catalina 10.15.4 and it is a Safari window.

1080P Window Capture.

In this case, I have the window on an external 1920x1080 window. I wondered if maybe capturing a window on a retina screen made the difference, so I captured it again.

Retina Window Capture

Either way, I no longer get the flicker. This is the window capture property screen

I do have v-sync management enabled in Settings->Advanced

I had same problem. Changed frame rates etc. What helped is to align OBS window (made is a bit smaller) aside with source window. The point is: source window should not be in same area as OBS

I get this issue all the time still. Wish it could be resloved, I need to stream a windowed app, but it makes my computer far less usable while streaming if i have to designate a space just for that window on my screen... (it takes up almost half my screen) also you could accidentally open something you didnt want streamed and have it open in the wrong spot so it's kindof unprofessional and dangerous. None of the above solutions worked for me. It still flickers (even when using displaycapture with cropped window selected) - the only way to get it to work is to do a full display capture and then do a manual crop filter on top. It's brutal... honestly I'm really wishing I had jumped off mac now that I know how bad OBS is with it.

Ver 26.1.2 btw
Catalina 10.15.7

Fyi: A good trick to find out if its still flickering is rescaling any window. - doesnt need to be obs or the streamed app - you can whip around the size of a third window and it will flicker like crazy. But of course when i dont do this it still flickers, just much less often. (maybe once every 3 min - but still pretty awful for my viewers)
