I am using a 2018 MacBook Pro I7 with a built in Radeon Pro 555x GFX. I have been having some issue capturing and recording/streaming with OBS at 720p. I use a SDI to USB3.0 converter (AJA UTap). My performance seems to be fine and the GFX monitor appears to only be using a few bars (not sure what 100% looks like however). Buuuuut my Mac gets pretty hot when doing this.
I have looked at the options and an external GPU seems to be the best option. I know that Mac has one on their site now, but I am looking to make it happen with $500 instead of $700. What would be the best GFX card and USB-C externalGPU box for this price range? And would it work with 1080p?
Also if you have general advice on how to make sure my Mac is not overheating, that would be appreciated.
