Hi everyone,

So I thought that I had a fantastic setup to start streaming/recording videos. I recently built a computer and run about 5+ upload, so I'm not sure what is causing my streams/recordings to be at a lower quality. I'm using a capture card with my PS4 to capture the video (the Elgato HD60). Here is the log file from a recent stream: http://pastebin.com/Dy71dNJs

If anything else would help solve this issue, please let me know and I'll get right on it.

Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks ahead of time :)

2650 bitrate is to low unless you are streaming hearthstone, since its a static game (not much moving).

When you stream your PS4, you will probably need the full 3500 bitrate for it to look decent, you might also try to drop your x264 preset to faster which will help a bit with the quality, only sacrificing more CPU usage. This should be fine as long as you can stay below 90%.

So it actually looks a lot better. I recorded some gameplay (didn't stream) and the quality is MUCH, MUCH better. The only thing I couldn't figure out was dropping the 264 preset?? While the quality is a lot better, I'm not 100% sure it's as "HD" as I'd like it to be. Would that only be possible if I have a higher upload speed? I'll be upgrading soon to 10 upload from my current 5, so I'm just curious. Thanks again!

so when recording and streaming at the same time, the same bitrate is used, so any higher than 3500 bitrate, you will have issues with twitch, and maybe some viewers with low internet speeds (yes, they are out there). and the internet being the way it is, even if there internet is fine, it still could cause issues.

That being said, stick with 3500 at max. your 4790k might be able to do "faster" instead of veryfast, which will increase the quality of the stream/recording. Fast at 720@60 is about as low as you should go with that CPU and that might be pushing it with some games (depending on screen movement).

try it out, you might be impressed with the results.

I tried it out, the 3500 is definitely fantastic. However, I tried the "faster" setting and it made my stream pause every few seconds for like a split second. Not sure how to improve that.

just stick with veryfast. it might be to much for your CPU. you could try disabling the preview window, sometimes that helps.
